As a region thats often in the news for all the wrong reasons, its nice to focus on something that we all can agree on: that when it comes to music, we are all one.

FADY FERRAYE
 |
Fady Ferraye has not had a normal upbringing for a DJ. Born in Beirut, he began collecting vinyl at the age of 10, with the Lebanese civil war as a backdrop. No easy start to a DJ career that would take him across the world for high-profile gigs, see him promoting a hot European residency and running a record label based in Amsterdam.
After years of spinning in the vibrant but at times insecure Middle East, after 6 years playing a weekly residency at Beirut's B018, Fady felt the time was right to take the plunge to move to the Netherlands in 2006, homing in on Amsterdam, where his international DJ career started.
In the following years his profile shot up and he found himself booked all over the city. He landed a second residency, in the Middle East this time, at Amman's glamorous Prana club. Fady also has performed alongside many international DJs, such as Sander Kleinenberg, Deep Dish, Paul Oakenfold, Tiesto, Dave Seaman, Marco V, Dirty South, Judge Jules, and Mark Van Dale.
Fady knows that productions are essential for any DJ to get ahead, and a slew of his tracks have been supported by many international DJs such as Hernan Cattaneo, Deep Dish, Moshic, Eelke Kleijn, Andy Moor, Matt Darey, Sandra Collins, The Flash Brothers, and DJ Tarkan. He records under various guises including Fady Ferraye, Yield (with DJ Maron from Holland), Fading Ocean (with M'ocean from the USA), and Free Jerk Inlay (with Eelke Kleijn from Holland).
Not content with simply spinning, he launched his own label entitled GooseBumps in 2007. In addition, he has a show on Frisky radio every fourth Tuesday of the month called GooseBumped.
Jump on board the Fady Ferraye's sound for diverse, open-minded dance music, from twisted house to atmospheric minimal grooves which light up the dance floor, through to heads down end of night techno. A sound conceived in the Middle East that now contains a modern European twist - you won't be disappointed!

Gunther & Stamina
 |
"Gunther & Stamina" is a phenomena! Although their name is mainly known within the Darkness of the Underground Scene, their music goes far beyond your usual expectations and they are just about to break out of their niche into the more mainstream market.
Before they became a regionally regarded underground act, for many years "Gunther & Stamina" were heading the local scene with intense planetary performances.
Gunther & Stamina are; Gunther Sabbagh and Elias Mereib both formed G&S in 2005 with the aim to produce "cosmic underground music".
Gunther has always had an ear for music; sounds literally excite him! But it wasn't until he really felt the atmosphere that he discovered the energy & expression within him; it wasn't until he started experimenting with dance music as a disc jockey that he realized he wanted to entertain and share...
Elias has been spinning for 6 years. He started Djing under the name "The Gemini" (aptly named for his abilities to play both musical genre, Drum n' Bass & Tech House), spinning on Vinyls before moving to CD's is an expert in translating planetary movements and cosmic vibrations into actual frequencies, accessible for the human ear
Here's the Bio as is of Gunther and Stamina. All the details are kept on purpose, don't think it's something too long or borring to read once you kick off with it you'll end up reading at least twice.
"Further into the today's time fruitful connection, is the great friendship ties with Big Al, (Ready Mix Records) and Faddy Ferraye , Besides their nation most wanted "Underground Sessions" on Mix FM. Not to mention the B018 Main residency with a series of music for breathing connection week ends."

Gunther
|
Gunther Sabbagh Born in January 1977, in a family of music lovers and musicians, a guitarist father and an accordionist mother, his quest into the music world was predestined. Right from listening to his first rock vinyl from his father's huge collection of vinyl - library of French and Rock music - in the early eighties, Gunther was extremely curious to know what it would be like to be part of the music culture.
Since the age of 7 Gunther ventured into music studies and took Piano lessons and kept on practicing till the age of 15. Meanwhile at the age of 12 he started drifting into rock music and then he started collecting records and albums, such as "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son", one of his favorite Iron Maiden albums, offered by his father on his 12th birthday.
For period of almost 3 years Gunther was so much taken by Heavy Metal music and his all time favourite bands were, Iron Maiden, Manowar, AC/DC, and so on. He also had a sold rock routes inspired by his favourite classic rock bands such as Doors, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Supertramp.
Gunther music style drifted from rock and metal to electronic and dance music by the time he stopped playing the Piano. Back then he was so curious to know what it would be like to be part of this Rave culture; either to be part of the crowd, or even unlikely he thought, a DJ! At the very least he just wanted to be part of this unique atmosphere that had him longing for more and more. Around the same time, he started to listen to Faithless, Insomnia and Salva Mea, adding fuel to Gunther's fire. He adored electronic music and decided to work in it after listening to northern exposure's Digweed and Sasha, east cost 1997. Digweed was the DJ, and his track selection and technique were to inspire Gunther to move forward with his fantasy and turn it into a kind of reality.
Since then he began collecting underground music and played it in private after hours. Going deeper and deeper into electronic music, Gunther was dazed by the mystical and magical beats and sounds of psychedelic music after his first contact with the Psy music through Astrix (genetic eyes).
Academically, 2000-2004 Gunther graduated with a Swiss diploma in hotel management, a Swiss higher diploma in tourism management, several certificates and a double degree in hospitality administration & business management from Washington state university.
All these academic achievements didn't restrict him from his music. In parallel, he didn't stop mixing wherever he had the opportunity to do so, at home and mobile in lounges, pubs, small clubs as well as local area small event in Switzerland and Lebanon.
After his graduation From Switzerland, he moved immediately to SAE production school in Paris where he graduated as an electronic music producer in May 2005.

Stamina
|
Elias Mereib was born in1980, to a family of Lebanese artists: his father Alain Merheb; a famous Singer and a professional Choreography dancer as well as his mother; his uncle Romeo Lahoud, head of the internationally known Romeo Lahoud Dance Group, and the list goes on.
Thus, it was only natural that Elias seemed predestined to do: MUSIC.
He became interested in Electronic Music at the age of 16, after listening to "Distance To Goa,Vol 1". He also went on in a long adventurous journey into Drum n' Bass and Tech House after attending the notorious "Free Parties" in Paris during the late 90's.
He was introduced to the vibrant progressive and Full On Psychedelic Trance at a psytrance party in London, and has been an ardent member of the scene ever since.
Elias pursued Audio Engineering at SAE Glasgow and Electronic Music Production at SAE Paris. A turn of the musical work occurred when Elias moved to Montreal and ideas of the cosmic psychedelic music came up, this 2nd phase was marked by the end of "The Gemini" era and the rise of "STAMINA".
Back then STAMINA was performing extensively at Psy parties Throughout Canada (Montreal, Quebec City) and moving between Scotland, France (Paris) , and of course Lebanon. Currently he is the only active psytrance DJ/Artist in Lebanon with an unusual style of his that brings life to his sets, claimed "he's kick ass on the dance floor".
Stamina is also a founding father of BUG SYSTEM (Beirut Underground), a musical project with KAA (Laurent Jreijiri) and Nandi (Joe Tawk) both based in Paris.
Over the past two years Stamina has been an avid supporter of the Underground scene and has been pushing for it's expansion throughout the Electronic scene in Lebanon.

JADE
 |
'If you live in Beirut, you probably know Jade as the DJ from The Basement, or one the most respected DJs in town, or the dude from Blend, the only signed Rock Band in the region (EMI), or that guy at the music store downtown who always recommended great music. Jade plays vinyl in a country where no 12'' is being sold...' (Excerpts from TRAX + REMIX magazines)
A rocker since high school, he moved to Montreal in 1999 where he experienced his first techno parties and found himself dragged into the world of electronic sounds. In 2002, he returns home to record his first album as a major act with his band Blend (EMI - www.blendband.net).
One year later Jade gets into DJ'ing, and not long after that, he gathers 400 people in unique locations where he throws underground parties (spoon events) He starts distributing his mixes on CD, a habit that he keeps till now in his club, The Basement.
Active since June 2005, The Basement gained a huge reputation for its particular style and its crazy atmosphere. For the first time in Beirut, the European Zeitgeist Electro / Minimal & Tech-House sound was offered to a wider audience: Jennifer Cardini, Abe Duque, Chloe, M.A.N.D.Y, D'Julz and many others played there; supported by Jade.
The war in 2006 did not stop him… he went organizing fundraisers in town (www.minimalresistance.org) and around the world (www.tobeirut.org) in coordination with The Lebanese Red Cross and with the help and support of P-Toile (Clique Bookings, Berlin), where Famous DJs and live acts like DJ Hell, Craig Richards, MANDY, Stewart Walker, Patrick Chardronnet, Dirt Crew, Kiki, Fafa Monteco, Jef K, Jennifer Cardini, Chloe, Yvan Smagghe, Ewan Pearson and many more supported him….

LADY J
 |
In an industry ruled by the male masters of DJing, it's no walk in the park for a female DJette to stand out. But this is no ordinary female DJette. Lady J developed an early curiosity in dance music at the tender age of 12. The early 90s era opened her eyes to leading local radio stations and DJs from whom she was inspired to the art of DJing and making people move. Picking up DJing the hard old-fashioned way through vinyl, Lady J was the very first female to dare venturing into the man's world of DJing. The late 90s was a turning point in her DJ career as she was finally of legal age to take her talent from the bedroom to the club. Intensively educating herself in modern dance music through various compilations and DJs, Lady J revealed huge potential from the very beginning. Impressing at private underground parties and gaining deeper insight into what makes a crowd tick, she began building a solid name for herself within the local scene, and it was in no time that the name Lady J was surrounded by nothing short of good reputation. The year 2003 was monumental for Lady J as she made her ground entry to the global scene through the reputable Heineken Thirst competition. Nominated by none other than the one and only Paul Oakenfold for the third local position and fourth international one in that competition, the following year witnessed Lady J taking part in the organization of the next Thirst competition. Meanwhile, she was busy taking her skills from Lebanon's hottest beaches to its coolest pubs to its wildest clubs. Working alongside Pete Tong, Deep Dish, Sander K, Chris Lake, and Andy Moor in local raves, Lady J became even more in demand and for more peak times of the gigs. In October 2007, she headlined along with Lebanese icons Gunther & Stamina and Jordanian talent DJ Hassan H, taking the Jordanian crowd on a trip into the hidden realms of Progressive House - her current sound of preference. The future looks bright for our young lady, soon venturing into production while maintaining her activity as a DJ. Lady J is most definitely a name to look out for; locally, and globally.

In Februray 2005 , Nick moved to Gypo Landz "Egypt" searching for a new experience . DJing by the Red sea is just an amazing journey Nick says . Dj ROY
 |
The 12th day of the year 1982, Roy Malakian arrived to this world, in Beirut, Lebanon. Born from a Lebanese mother and an Armenian-Lebanese father. Roy retrieved his education during the Civil War which took over in Lebanon and obtained a Topographic Engineer diploma. As Roy's engineering career blossomed, so did his record collection, starting with Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode, Killing Joke, Porcupine tree, Radiohead, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Richie Blackmore, Talk Talk, Garry Moore reaching Danny Tenaglia, John Digweed, Laurent Garnier, Dead Can Dance, Carl Cox, Hernan Cattaneo, Andy Moore, Armin Van Burren, Deep Dish, MarcoV, Nick Warren, Judge Jules, Anthony Pappa, Thomas Penton, Sander Kleinenberg, Pete Tong, Tony Thomas, Steve Lawler and Offer Nissim. Though his looks propelled him down the topography runways, it was music that set his heart flying. Eventually he bought a professional set of turntables which was an ear-opening move to DJ at local parties and events. All his nights spent dancing had given Roy an ear for what sounded good. He was like a club head, the person who the DJ played for! Nevertheless, he wanted to DJ knowing that it was such a huge responsibility, to keep all the people dancing, satisfied, and to keep the music interesting. Not content to just playing music, Roy turned to producing it, and was on his way to becoming as renowned producer as he was a DJ. Soon enough, Roy's reputation echoed outside his territory to reach many other countries where he performed, such as Greece, Cyprus, Spain, Milano, Morocco and many countries in Europe. People call him a "Progressive House" DJ, but really he plays a lot more than that adding Deep & Dark Underground, and Progressive Tribal Dark music,
, but really he plays a lot more than that wanting to take the crowd on a journey when he DJs, and does not lose sight of what great music really is. Currently, Roy is working on producing new beats and sounds, which will be out in 2008, not forgetting that he presents his international show, "The Pulse", with international progressive house disc jockeys like Tamer Fouda, Snake Sedrik, Eric Entrena, Fady Ferraye, Judge Jules and many more, on Lebanon's No. 1 radio station, Radio One, every Friday night after midnight till 2am, and airs exclusively on the internet through vibelebanon.com. Finally, Roy runs down the top 10 Progressive House songs every month in the Movie Guide booklet at cinemas.
Roy's career is exploding, check back with him in a year, he'll have a lot more to say by then and promises you that he will carry on to keep this entry up-to-date as his DJ related projects continue to evolve.

Shiva
 |
Shiva's love of music was sealed at an extremely early age when at 6yrs old, she started piano lessons, quickly becoming a classically trained pianist, with concerts under her belt by age of 10. She had no choice: coming from a family of musicians, she expanded her musical spectrum very wide and after 10yrs of studying in a conservatory, including dabbling with acoustic guitar, she moved on to become a jazz singer, singing in several lounges around Europe. At 23, Shiva was discovered for her external beauty and became a model, soon hitting the international scene in a very strong way. Having left her birth home of Romania, Shiva fell in love and adopted her new city and country: Beirut, Lebanon. It is here where her modeling career flourished for several years but her love and need for music never died. Being immersed in the small and underground electronic music scene in Lebanon and Middle East, Shiva (real name Loredana aka Lory) sought out to become an important part of it and used her skills and talents in music to teach herself the art of DJing.
Since the last few years, Shiva has been DJing in most of the local underground clubs in Lebanon. Specializing in dark progressive and tech house genres, she has performed with several top name DJs that visited Middle East such as: Fred Numf, Marco V, Andy Moor, Chris Lake, Tiesto among others. She also has a weekly afterhours radio show on the largest and most listened to radio station in Lebanon, Radio One called "Mistress of Sound". Her musical evolution is still not complete with Shiva hoping to move into production very soon as well as increase her participation in regional and international gigs and events.

Ziad Zeino
 |
It started a long long time ago - but the musical journey that Ziad's ears experienced has stretched to span the days of classic rock to the present. Subjected to over 40 years of music, and holding a passion that ever-expanded, he dreamt about mixing music since age 10.
7 years ago his dream became reality when he bought the first pair of decks and spent hours in his confinement understanding the mixing techniques and psychology behind the ultimate dj set. His inspirations included international and local talents like John Digweed, Sasha, Chris Fortier, Hernan Cattaneo and Fady Ferraye. What started out as deep and dark evolved to include various genres of electronica. Today, Ziad's sets range from electro to progressive to minimal techno - underground sounds that will hold an element of surprise. His track selection tends to be exclusive and unique. He has played in many venues in Beirut and Dubai and held a weekly residency in Abu Dhabi before deciding to move to Australia. Having aired last May on Frisky's deepest level show, he's at it again this month with a twisted set grasping the dark and hypnotic sides of tech-edged-prog. You can also listen to his sets on www.vibelebanon.com.
