Beyza
 |
Since 1997, Beyza has been at the forefront of the house scene in her hometown of Istanbul, Turkey. In many ways, it has been an uphill
battle being the first female club DJ in her country, but her vision, hard work, and determination has led to many victories. Early in
her career, she was selected to play at the largest open air club of Europe called 2019.
Following these early gigs, Beyza quickly ascended to the height of Istanbul's underground scene and beyond. Her travels as a
professional DJ have not only taken her to venues all over Turkey, but stretch as far as France, Cyprus, and the United States.
From small intimate clubs and larger beach parties, to massive New Year’s festivals, Beyza has only begun to accomplish the vision
she has set forth. The future will see her reaching the far corners of the globe spreading the frequency of this electro sound.
Beyza’s interest to become a DJ started in the 1980's with visits to discos as a teenager. Her record collection grew… collecting
the vinyls of a variety of musical directions from pop, disco, new wave and classic. In the early 90's, motivated by what is known
today as House music, she discovered her true passion, and moved more and more into the world of “House”. Finally in 1996, she got
her first set of turntables and a mixer, and started working hard at her new found passion.
“Since the beginning my attitude was 'House is a feeling', and it really is. Even before I started to DJ, my heart would ache with
pleasure whenever I heard good house tunes. When I'm spinning, the major influence is the vibe coming from the crowd. So I just listen
to the feeling, and put my records on. That's why I never pick out my records beforehand and then play them in a prefixed order.''
Beyza’s abilities have grown beyond the DJ booth, and have spread to the production studio. 2004 will see her original track
entitled “Celebrate” on Prosound’s 3rd installment of the “Future Sound of Istanbul” compilation series, and will mark her
debut appearance as a producer. As well as focusing on solo projects such as “No Distance”, “Misunderstood” and “Ball of Wool”,
Beyza has also been collaborating with Sentient Audio Collective’s Michael Lanning. The two have formed an incredible connection
that is sure to bring great music for the future.
