Jeroen van der Lee, better known as Fresh, was born in The Netherlands in 1974. He has been exposed to music and the arts throughout his childhood.
Around the start of the nineties, he was caught on by the 'House virus'. When a friend bought him his first House compilation album, there was no way backwards. He became instantly addicted to with the Rave,
Techno and Acid sounds. Tracks like 'Joey Beltram - Energy Flash', 'Second Phase - Mentasm', 'Hardfloor - Acperience' had a huge impact on him and made him realize he wanted to start producing himself. His first efforts were on a computer, which allowed only 4 samples at once. Later on his continuing passion for House music made him buy a modest studio setup, consisting of some analogue synthesizer, drum computer, effects units and a recording table.
He could literally spend hours on end, just sculpting a single sound or groove. This taught him the principles of sound synthesis and enabled him to explore musical composition. The tunes he made were spread out to friends. From Acid, Techno and House to Drum & Bass and Ambient/Experimental; Fresh didn't limit himself to one genre.
A few years later he was involved in a project with a friend which resulted in a 2 track demo EP. He also became responsible for a radio commercial and music for a couple of websites.
Moving towards the year 2k, Fresh's interests broadened and he decided to start out as a DJ in 2003.
A new phase of experimentation and exploration began, where Fresh was trying to master the art of DJ'ing and put time into creating a style of its own.
In 2004 his DJ sets started to get played on numerous radio stations around the world: Proton Radio (Featured Artist, Soundlab) Frisky Radio (MS) and different FM Radio.s in Greece, Poland, Romania, Peru and the United States. In that same year he started hosting his own show called Introversive on MercurySessions Radio (http://www.mercurysessions.com). This show, which is already in existence for over a year, has been focusing on quality underground house music and promoting established and upcoming DJ.s / producers. With world renowned guests like Habersham, Alex Stealthy, Clubbervision, V-Sag, combined with Fresh.s unique resident sets, the show has always been striving for quality and sonic progression. In the near future he has plans for remix and production work and new show features.
Fresh has a tendency of creating and sculpting unique atmospheres and flows in his sets. He does so by combining deep, dark, atmospheric, emotional, hypnotic and grooving elements of the sonic color palette, using creative transitions. He strictly selects the latest tracks that move him, putting as much consideration into matching keys as he does into beat matching. He can be very demanding to himself, focusing on details and always striving for perfection.
